The sea keeps its most enduring stories below the surface. Hidden from the eye, its gardens grow without witness, shaped by currents, light, and time. Coral colonies rise through accumulation. Sea plants drift with rhythm. Every living form depends upon another. In The Garden Beneath, Sheila Go imagines this submerged world as a place where life unfolds through patience rather than spectacle, where beauty emerges from the labor of becoming.
Beneath these luminous surfaces lies a meditation on what sustains us. Coral reefs are built through countless small acts of persistence. Each organism leaves behind a fragile trace that becomes the foundation for another. What appears permanent is the result of continuous renewal. Go understands this condition through paint. Her repeated patterns, layered forms, and careful accretions become gestures of attention. They remind us that strength rarely arrives in a single moment. It gathers slowly, almost unnoticed, until it becomes a landscape.
The Garden Beneath invites us to consider what exists beyond immediate sight. There are lives that flourish without recognition, places that carry memory without words, forms of care that remain hidden beneath the visible world. Go turns toward these ecologies with tenderness. Her works allude that the deepest foundations are seldom the most visible. Like the reefs that hold the sea together, they endure through presence, connection, and the certainty of growth.
Sheila Osmeña-Go is an artist whose creative journey has been shaped by passion, purpose, and a deep sense of giving. A mother, wife, and practicing artist, Sheila’s relationship with art began early—designing prom dresses for classmates in high school and sketching her favorite action figures long before formal exhibitions entered the picture. Her artistic practice formally took shape in 2015, when she began exploring painting through various mediums, including watercolor, oil, and acrylic. Since then, her works have become extensions of both her technical curiosity and her generosity. Sheila has consistently used her art as a means of service—auctioning paintings to support children with cancer, raising funds for essential supplies in Cebu during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and participating in Rotary Club group exhibitions where proceeds benefited the deaf-mute community.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Cebu Doctors University. Early in her academic life, her artistic promise was recognized when she won first prize in a poster-making competition against students from across different college courses—an achievement that led to an offer to pursue Fine Arts at UP Cebu.
This first solo exhibition marks a significant milestone in Sheila Osmeña-Go’s artistic journey and stands as a celebration of perseverance, generosity, and creative devotion. She is honored to present A Symphony of Corals at Opus Atrium and to be part of Galerie Joaquin’s roster of artists. PLDT Home supports A Symphony of Corals and its PLDT Home Ambassador Sheila Osmeña-Go in celebrating creativity, family, and purposeful living—values shared by both the artist and the brand, and reflected in the exhibition’s emphasis on connection, community, and meaningful creation. Joining Galerie Joaquin and PLDT Home in this partnership are Opus Mall and Bar Shu.
