Orley Ypon is widely regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary Philippine realism. His work has earned international acclaim, notably with his Grand Prize win at the International Artist Magazine’s International Painting Competition of the Portrait Society of America in 2009, followed by First Place in the Figurative Category of the Art Renewal Center’s Salon International in 2011/2012 for his piece Resurrection. He has also received Best in Show honors for Interregnum, securing his place among the “Living Masters” featured by the ARC. Among his numerous accolades is the Ani Ng Dangal award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines in 2011, and he is a Grand Prize winner of the prestigious Amorsolo Competition.
