Darwin Guevarra

Darwin “Japat” Guevarra is a self-taught artist hailing from the humble town of Taytay, Rizal. Inspired by works of the masters as well as his peers, Guevarra was imbibed with the wisdom of how he would be able to create a concrete foundation of a concept upon which he would build his works of art. 

Experience taught him well, but he was further honed through participation in art competitions, which not only challenged him to be at the top of his game, but also allowed him to see various points of view of other artists. Eventually, he found his métier in grounding his concept on life and social realism. More often, he finds that he is drawn towards actual situations that are tangible to him, and tries to veer away from the political and religious, and circumstances where he is unable to draw conclusions close to the truth. 

Darwin Guevarra currently resides in Laguna where he continues to feed his curiosity and develop his technique further through painting, sculpting, photography, and experimenting with scrap and molded materials.
