Interwoven: Counterpoint at Galerie Joaquin Rockwell

The exhibit is on view from February 10-20, 2026.

Interwoven: Counterpoint marks the second iteration of Interwoven, first presented as Galerie Joaquin’s Valentine’s exhibition in 2025. This year’s offering moves beyond the notion of simple connection, turning instead toward dialogue, independence, and the creative exchange that exists between artist partners.

The exhibition reunites four artist couples: Jepoy Almario and Astrid Castillo-Almario, Marco Coching and April Lopez, Almer and Ann Moneda and Perfecto Palero Jr. and Joan Palero who are each recognized for a distinct visual language and individual artistic direction. The artists were challenged to respond to one another while maintaining autonomy, creating works that engage as if in conversation, like counterpoints in a musical composition. While their individual practices remain intact, the resulting pieces are sharpened and expanded through influence and mutual inspiration.

Alongside their individual pieces, each couple presents a special collaborative artwork created jointly for the exhibition. These four works act as deliberate points of convergence, revealing how collaboration can enhance and complement without erasing individuality. Together, they offer insights into shared processes while honoring the strength of their separate artistic identities.

At the heart of the exhibition is the idea that collaboration does not depend on fusion or necessitate conformity. The works presented reflect parallel thinking, contrast, resonance, and moments of visual harmony and that relationships are felt rather than declared. Interwoven: Counterpoint proposes that enduring creative relationships much like enduring partnerships, are built not on fusion, but on mutual respect, dialogue, and the space for growth and change.

The gallery is located at the R3 Level, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City.
