View Happy Thoughts and Mood Songs Gallery“Happy Thoughts & Mood Songs,” by Fitz Herrera
runs at Galerie Joaquin BGC from April 2-13, 2025
The deep connection of art and music has always been intertwined. Music is often used as inspiration to weave emotions, color and artistry into a visual composition where some elements such as dynamics, harmony, rhythm and texture directly impact the tone of an artwork leading to bright colors and energetic brushstrokes.
Exploring the connection between art and music and how human emotions shape our daily experiences, artist Fitz Herrera utilizes his artwork as a tangible way to mirror his innermost thoughts and love for music and uplift his viewers. Featuring 22 works inspired by warmth, joy and nostalgia, Herrera’s abstractions become a celebration of positivity as melodies translate into stories on canvas.
One such story Herrera wishes to share is that of his music, with him being musically inclined himself. He is a drummer for The Facundos, a band specializing in hard rock and indie music. This inclination allows him the understanding to associate music with visual elements and make his art a direct translation of that. Add to that is Herrera’s intent for his audience to create a deep connection to the art while reflecting the very emotional feelings, memories and energy of the music itself.
Fitz Herrera (b. 1978) is an abstract artist who formally trained at the University of the East - College Fine Arts where he majored in Advertising. Herrera worked at Universal Records as a graphic artist producing event posters, album covers and the likes. His earlier works won him some accolades including the Metrobank Art & Design Excellence (MADE) award where he landed at third place in 2004. Eventually, Herrera found freedom in abstraction and it is also where he gained critical attention to his illustrious career.
