Flowers are a universal language for those who communicate better through actions than words. Beyond their well-known symbolism for love, beauty, or fleeting emotions, flora also represents the tides and turns of waking life. A flower grows, blooms, and ultimately withers, yet throughout its journey, it retains an inherent beauty that transcends its physical state. Artists April Lopez, Haraya Tejido, and Kim Tugade echo this sentiment in their exhibit, Floral Pirouettes, at Galerie Joaquin BGC. The title itself is rich with metaphor: a “pirouette” is a graceful movement in ballet that requires continuous spinning, with moments of stillness, all while maintaining balance and momentum to achieve perfect form. By merging this concept with the delicate allure of flowers, the exhibit presents a vibrant collection by these celebrated women artists, adorned with a symphony of natural splendor. Rendered in sweeping crescendos of color and form, the works unveil an elegant performance where life is the stage, and flowers are the dancers, performing their pirouettes with every deliberate motion aimed at their peak beauty. Even as a flower reaches the end of its life cycle and its dance concludes, it reminds viewers to cherish the freedom found in life’s movement. The beauty lies not only in the blooming but also in the surrender to life’s rhythm, rooted in the resilience to begin anew. At its core, the exhibit aspires to instill the values of freedom, vulnerability, and grace–to embrace the excitement of motion while finding courage in stillness. It encourages viewers to surrender to life’s flow but also to pause, reflect, and find their center. Because life, like dance, is as much about the stillness as it is about the spin. “Floral Pirouettes”, a three-woman show featuring works by April Lopez, Haraya Tejido and Kim Tugade, will run from January 21 - February 2, 2025, with an Artists Reception on January 23, Thursday, at 5 PM onwards. Galerie Joaquin BGC is located on the Upper Ground Floor, One Bonifacio High Street Mall, 5th Ave. Corner 28th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
