View Floral Reverie Gallery“Floral Reverie” by Ycoy Sitchon at Galerie Joaquin BGC
Exhibit runs January 11 – 21, 2024In the heart of the Philippines' bustling event-planning industry stands Ycoy Sitchon, Creative Director of La Belle Fête. More than just a leader in the corporate world, Sitchon is a paragon of visionary artistry, seamlessly blending her prowess in business with a profound passion for painting.
Introducing her foray into the arts, “Floral Reverie”, the artist’s first solo exhibition, is a vibrant and emotive exhibit that intertwines the multifaceted characters and roles of women with the ethereal beauty of flowers. Each canvas in this collection is a heartfelt tribute, where the artist delves into the depths of women's experiences, mirroring them in the delicate yet resilient nature of various blooms. The exhibit is a symphony of colors, each chosen with intent and delicacy, embodying the emotions, strengths, and vulnerabilities of women from diverse walks of life.
The brush strokes vary from gentle whispers to bold declarations, echoing the dynamic roles women play in our world. Accompanying each painting is a personal, evocative poem penned by the artist, offering a glimpse into her soul and the souls of the women who inspire her. This exhibit is not just a display of art; it is a celebration of womanhood in all its forms, a tribute to the nurturing, powerful, and transformative influence of women, akin to the life-giving essence of flowers in nature.
In essence, “Floral Reverie” is a visual poetry of “femme et fleur” (women and flowers); how the delicate renditions of flora translate the innermost sentiments of a woman, naturally in tune with the spiritual and emotional self.
About the Artist
After graduating from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Economics, Sitchon embarked on a remarkable journey, traversing the worlds of international advertising and banking. Her tenure as a government securities trader and investment banker laid the groundwork for her exceptional leadership skills, which she later brought to La Belle Fête.
During her stewardship, La Belle Fête rose to prominence, etching its name as one of the foremost event companies in the Philippines. But it was during the tumultuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic that Sitchon's resilience shone brightest. Demonstrating uncanny adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit, she founded three new enterprises, each uniquely tailored to meet the evolving demands of their clientele.
However, Sitchon's true metamorphosis began when she exchanged the calculative precision of banking for the boundless realms of art. Her love affair with painting, rooted in childhood memories of her grandmother's garden, blossomed into a distinctive style that merges abstraction with representation. Through her art, Sitchon creates a dialogue between viewer and canvas, using a blend of undefined lines, dramatic compositions, and a spectrum of colors that evoke both whimsy and profundity.
Her pieces are more than just visual delights; they are narratives of her journey. Each stroke of her brush reflects a deep connection to her subjects, particularly flowers, which have been a constant motif in her life and work. Sitchon's art is a testament to her belief in expression over impression, a principle that earned her a spot in Preview Magazine's Top 25 Creatives.
In every endeavor, Ycoy Sitchon stands as a beacon of inspiration, urging us to embrace our passions and flourish. Her story is not just one of success in the corporate and artistic worlds; it is a reminder of the transformative power of embracing one's true calling.
