Dans Le Jardin – A Solo Exhibition by Ada Panopio On view at Galerie Joaquin Podium

November 23 – December 2, 2022

For her latest exhibition “Dans Le Jardin”, visual artist Ada Panopio explores the relationship between man and nature and how it extends beyond the borders of the human psyche. For Panopio, this relationship is an integral element to self-discovery and understanding not only to one’s self, but also to all finite things that exists around us.

As we near the tail-end of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and the society gradually reacquires a semblance of normalcy, Ada Panopio looks back and presents works that express a more meditative visual language. Through a series of paintings, Panopio revisualizes how nature has helped her get through the tumult of the pandemic and how she––as she hopes as well for her audience, find respite and solace through nature in all its austerity and grandeur.

Serving as visual sanctuaries, Panopio allows her audience to take refuge and comfort through the light that seems to peek through a thicket of foliage or kingfisher birds that gleefully play atop towering leaves; her works–reminiscent of still photos–freezes time and candidly captures picturesque moments with sincere lightness and delicacy. A master of her own craft, Panopio deftly composes her elements with precision and balance, effectively evoking a sense of calm and peace.

Ada Panopio frames her works with an intent for us to look into the particular details of the artworks. Be it the majestic sunlight that seem to cascade through the trees, the lush colors of flora and fauna, or a single firefly floating or hiding beneath the leaves, Panopio judiciously weaves these elements into the very fabrics of each painting, allowing us to see light and life in a more profound understanding.
