The psyche of a woman is a deep-rooted theme in art and literature. For centuries, the subject of womanhood has been a vitally contributing aspect in unfolding ideas of a life lived with beauty and elegance, despite the predominance of patriarchal ideologies at the time. There is a compelling power that a woman’s psyche possesses; it is believed that the thoughts and feelings of a woman are far more intuitive and sentimental than the opposite sex.

For “Elysian: Inside the Female Psyche”, visual artists Jo Balbarona, Katrina Cuenca, Aileen Lanuza, Rafaelle Louise, Marge Organo and Haraya Ocampo Tejido embrace these notions and enliven their elysian intuitions, spirited from their soulful tenderness as women of the now.

The works exemplify visual illustrations of strength, vigor, and excellence brilliantly demonstrated through an impactful multiverse of color, texture, shape and form. The collection of paintings and sculptures serve as a sincere admiration for female artistry – further evoking careful yet energizing abstractions by delivering an eminent message: there is great power in emotional and spiritual vulnerability.

In view of the works exhibited, Jo Balbarona, Katrina Cuenca, Aileen Lanuza, Rafaelle Louise, Marge Organo and Haraya Ocampo Tejido invite and encourage the viewers to reflect and be amenable with their spiritual tenuity, no matter the sex or gender. The exhibit is a celebration of womanhood, with the intention to sympathize feelings and understandings of humane capacity, viewed through the female gaze.
