View Ostinato Gallery“Ostinato” by Jax Pasimio on view at Galerie Joaquin Podium
Show runs May 11 to 22Jax Pasimio’s works for “Ostinato” explore notions of contrasting opposites, metaphorical meanings, and the rhythmic qualities of day and night. Her abstracted landscapes, infused with atmospheric light, emphasize the mood and aura of each piece. The artist’s concept of light and darkness both transcends and bridges expressionism and abstraction, highlighting the experience over the image itself.
“Ostinato” invites spectators to slow their gaze and absorb in the rich detail of each scene, to marvel at the creativity of Pasimio’s imagined world depicted in her canvas—as elements move in a sort of beautiful emergent behavior and harmonic motion. The details loop around the space like a cycle reminiscent of the birth and end of a day, depicting Ostinato’s definition of a continually repeated musical phrase or rhythm.
Pasimio narrates: “The concept came from a sense of longing to be back in nature so I tried to capture that with my paintings: the colors, texture, and most importantly the emotions one may feel while the day passes.” Through this exhibit, Jax Pasimio intends to investigate, explore, and respond to life cycles and processes through her art, as she interrogates existence within the scheme of things: sunrise as beginnings, sunsets as contemplations, and evenings as thanksgiving and hope.
Jax Pasimio is a graduate of Behavioral Science from the De La Salle University. Pasimio also finished a short Digital Arts course from the First Academy of Computer Arts. As a visual artist, she states that her source of inspiration comes from the interconnection of human patterns to the outside world. Elaborate motif, vibrant colors, and intricate detailing are all hallmarks of her visual style.
Pasimio’s works are constantly showcased on various local group exhibitions since 2015. She is currently a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (ANG INK) and is one of Galerie Joaquin’s represented artists.
