“Urban Elevations” by Patrick Esmao on view at Galerie Joaquin BGC

Show runs May 3 to 14

Patrick Esmao’s works for “Urban Elevations” evoke the breath of a city presented in a new, thought-provoking manner; with the elements at the intersection of art, architecture, and technology. Esmao’s current collection explores the relationship of the ephemeral within the built environment.

The paintings feature Esmao’s distinct techniques from weighty outlines for the contour of the cityscape, to the use of pattern to create structural formation. The color composition ranges from muted tones dedicated for the horizon, and metallic hues for the buildings.

The works present themselves somewhere between still life and landscape paintings-- about possibilities and permanence. “Urban Elevations” captures the pulse of a familiar city and intends to create a unique and captivating experience to the audience. The exhibition explores how the transformation of the urban landscape serves as aesthetic markers of modern culture and identity.
