“With Hope Comes a New Day” celebrates the ways artists envision the world despite its current state, exploring it with hope, energy, passion, playfulness and above all, with the commitment to questioning the invention that comes out of each artist's work. Optimism is a mental attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome will be positive. When the participating artists made their artworks for this exhibit, the word optimism came to my mind. Wanting to share a positive message during these uncertain times, “optimism” expressed each one’s feelings and which gave them inspirations of hope.

All aspects of human lives are interconnected. That connectedness gives a sense of who we are and what is important. The artists for “With Hope Comes a New Day” feel that they have an obligation to communicate in an accessible manner through art on current matters of importance as they see it. Each one is looking to bring to the forefront a heightened awareness of issues and possibilities. In a philosophically optimistic way, Richard Arimado, Barbara Angeles, Vic Bachoco, Caress Banson, Eduardo Castrillo, Janddie Castillo, Gary Custodio, Darwin Guevarra, Dr. Ronnie Lim, Art Lozano, Rowin Obrero, Averil Paras, Aljo Pingol, Richard Perez, Aner Sebastian, Camille Ver, Ombok Villamor, and Edwin Wilwayco hope to find alternative ways to provide perspective on their chosen subject, whether it be of a most intimate nature or of greater public matter.

The works aim to move the viewer, to access their personal space and help to find a certain peaceful resolution especially during these trying times. The techniques are explorative, reactive, and courageous, aiming for the audience to appreciate a concentrated visual experience and come away with a response to an idea, an impression or feeling that becomes important to them. The artists hope to connect and present a notion to the observer that can then be resolved with a hopeful message.

“With Hope Comes a New Day” is an online exhibition presented by Galerie Joaquin with works by Presidential Medal of Merit Awardee Juvenal Sanso, William Alvarez, Richard Arimado, Barbara Angeles, Vic Bachoco, Caress Banson, Michael Cacnio, Nelson Castillo, Eduardo Castrillo, Janddie Castillo, Katrina Cuenca, Gary Custodio, Patricia Gan, Darwin Guevarra, Louie Ignacio, Raul Isidro, Dr. Ronnie Lim, Art Lozano, Ram Mallari, Jerry Morada, Rowin Obrero, Milmar Onal, Perfecto Palero, Averil Paras, Michael Pastorizo, Ted Penaflor IV, Aljo Pingol, Richard Perez, Jun Rocha, Dominic Rubio, Aner Sebastian, Magoo Valencia, Camille Ver, Ombok Villamor, and Edwin Wilwayco. The online exhibit will run from August 9 to 20, 2021.
