View Latitude Gallery"Latitude"
by Jay Ragma at Galerie Joaquin Podium Show runs January 22 to 31
By Grace NgVisual artist Jay Ragma translates the energy and story behind his unique artworks through geometric shapes accentuated in strong and concise hues. The works for “Latitude” examine the relationship of geometric and organic shapes as they exist on a continuum; and how the elements complement or in certain instances oppose one another. Ultimately for Ragma, nature – which is universally present – is the archetype and the vehicle through which he interprets his ideas.
“Latitude” is a word that combines both geographical and playful dimensions, opening possibilities for cultural and imaginative expansiveness. For this exhibit, Ragma carefully yet spontaneously places lines to create and develop texture, contrast and depth and in the process, succeeds in inventing captivating visual narratives.
The exhibition’s goal is to create a compelling three-dimensional illusion to the works using the artist’s dexterous use of a combination of geometric lines, shapes, and spaces. Ragma’s objective is to evoke a sense of energy and motion while maintaining an overall sense of balance in his oeuvre. His intent is not for the audience to interpret the lines, but to step back and allow all possible latitude as a viewer and personally experience of the artwork.
“Latitude” by Jay Ragma will be on view from January 22 to 31, 2021. Galerie Joaquin is located on the 3rd level of The Podium, ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. For more information, contact +63 926 7227925 or email podium.galeriejoaquin@gmail.com.
