The works for “Bouquet de Fleurs” embodies all of the essentials of Ombok’s signature style of abstracted nature. His ambitious play with brushstrokes creates an ethereal quality between painted patterns and elements. As an artist, Ombok Villamor has an unerring awareness of composition, and is delighted in combining floral elements with a wide variety of colors and forms to exude a pleasing and uplifting visual experience.

Examination of each flower reveals the authority with which Ombok constructs his bouquets. Daubs of pale blue, peach, mauve, yellow, and deep red define the flowers, while freely applied brush-loads of vibrant hues define leaves or laces. The grand bouquet itself seems to float between planes and levels of reality.

Ombok’s style of painting became more naturalistic over time, as he developed techniques for rendering his interpretation of nature with soft, flowing textures. He also introduced subtle tonal gradations to enhance the sensation of light flooding the image.

“Bouquet de Fleurs” is quintessential Ombok, balancing a freedom of paint application and spontaneity of composition with a sense of deliberateness and control.
