A desire for personal immersion into a purifying environment inspired Art Lozano to create “Come Together”. His oeuvre can be a catalyst for reconnecting people with a spirit of place and reawakening enthusiasm for their physical environment. Lozano strives to present a vision of the environment that transcends its physical appearance and communicates the unity of nature and the human pysche.

As his works progress, vintage automobiles remain the primary focal point in the canvas. “Come Together” attempts to depict the preservation of deep artistic roots of 20th-century pop culture as embodied by these icons of nostalgia. These automobiles, in particular the Volkswagen Beetle, historically have given unique identities and delightful moments to its owners, collectors, and avid followers, often serving as a beacon, beckoning viewers to recount their unwinding and timeless passion. The title is also a nod to the Beatles’ song -- a crusade to “join the party”, be one with the earth, and eventually be free. This notion forms the heart of what Art Lozano creates.

Baguio City, hailed as a creative city by UNESCO, is Lozano’s inspiration for his works. In a way, he wants to promote the city’s cultural emblems and its tribes’ identity markers for the next generation to continue. Lozano aims to share the colorful stories, traditions, rich culture of the city he now calls home – where he is able to contemplate through the landscape and surrender to the feeling of becoming one with the environment; realizing that we are all one creation.

Art Lozano uses archetypal images from retro-pop culture as metaphorical players in a natural scenario intended to illustrate the marvels of common human life experiences, including the poignancy of decay and ruination, but also principles of rebirth, wonder, exhilaration and creative freedom.

Lozano is described to be a “quiet environmentalist” who develops his unique talent to convey a message. He believes his works can be an instrument to propel the message to focus on earth’s pristine beauty. His is the dream that his paintings urge people to act and take full responsibility in preserving Mother Nature. Ultimately, as he bares his soul through these works, Lozano entices his audience to interpret his works with a critical eye and an open mind.

A painter from Ilocos, Arthur “Art” Lozano has, since 2000, been garnering recognition by various award giving bodies which include the AAP Annual Art Competition, Metro Bank Art and Design Excellence National Competition, GSIS Art Award, and the Philip Morris Art Award. He is currently a member of the renowned Baguio Tam-awan Artist Group.
