View The Inimitable Femme Gallery“The Inimitable Femme” by Marge Organo exhibits at Galerie Joaquin U.P. Town Center
Show runs from July 27 to August 5, 2019By Grace A. Ng
Marge Organo’s works are about carving space and coming up with a result art as her creations evoke a direct connection to feminine forms. “For “The Inimitable Femme,” an enduring interest in the visual aspects of the female figure is manifested in her use of energetic, ever-evolving colors. Her recent artworks are inspired by the lightness of being and specializes in body movement, and are one of her most interesting, challenging, and ambitious creations to date.
Shapes, medium, and structures are used to evoke emotion, focusing on the human elements of the artist’s work. The final shapes appear flowing and smooth, but upon closer scrutiny, one will find that they are made up of individual lines, working on different planes and heading in directions, delicately interwoven in a manner directly influencing one another.
The intimate elements and the ever-changing complexities of the female figure serve as the dominant influence behind Organo’s new works. As a craftsman of color and glass, she explores that realm where real life meets imagination thereby discovering special moments when reality intermingles with fantasy from her choice of the materials and colors at her disposal. Creating new forms is a continuing mission for the artist; a way of not just merely reasserting the world as it is, but of positing a transformation. Her fantastical glass works are indexes of various emotional states—of intimate desires, longings, connections, passions, and affections. For Marge Organo, examining the world intuitively through three-dimensional form is a fundamental human pursuit.
Starting with the rudiments of painting in 2014, and figurative sculpture (using resin and bronze), Marge Organo moved on to pursuing studies in glass sculpture at the prestigious and internationally renowned Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, where she was also granted scholarship at her 2nd year of study in the same institution the following year. After her stint at Corning, she was accepted at the Kamenicky Senov, Czech Republic (the oldest glass making school in the world), where she learned glass casting under the tutelage of topnotch Czech artists. The combination of various techniques she acquired: glass lamination and glass cold-working, and glass and bronze casting – are those explored and applied in her latest oeuvre. Taking various techniques from different fields, she continuously hones her craftsmanship to the point of mastery, and receptive critics are quick to hail her practice.
With her angular abstract glass forms, she manages to incorporate different figurations that play with diffused light. In this manner, Organo succeeds in making light bend through various refractions and reflections in ways that seem almost implausible. How she manages to achieve this effect in her practice speaks of her measured method and highly intellectual approach to art.
“The Inimitable Femme” will be on view from July 27 to August 5, 2019 with the Artist Reception scheduled for Tuesday, July 30 at 6PM.
