Galerie Joaquin Rockwell

October 9 – 18, 2026

Celebrated visual artist Richard Arimado turns his gaze toward the everyday people of archival Manila. “Townsfolk” showcases a collection that continues the artist’s enduring ode to a beloved city that once was, revisiting its streets, characters, and familiar landscapes through a brighter and revitalized visual language.

The artist also explores new ground as he renders his subjects in brass sculpture, bringing a new sense of warmth and dimensionality to his signature motifs. Moreover, his fascination with urbanscapes, daily life, and top-view compositions remains unwavering, continuing his vision of bustling imagery that preserves its spirit through collective resonance.

True to his signature, Arimado’s imagery connects the roots of the old society to our present everyday folk, carrying vestiges of the past into the notions of contemporary life. This results in a body of work that feels both rooted and refreshed, drawing on the vitality of genre art to recall how a place was, how it is remembered, and how it continues to live in the imagination. In essence, the exhibition is an exploration of reimagining Manila in perpetuity, ever-celebrating our heritage and how it continues to remain in the present.

“Townsfolk” by Richard Arimado is on view at Galerie Joaquin Rockwell from October 9–18, 2026 at Galerie Joaquin Rockwell, with an Opening Reception on October 9, Friday. The gallery is located at the R3 Level, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City. For inquiries, contact Galerie Joaquin through @galeriejoaquin on Instagram or Galerie Joaquin on Facebook.
