PARIAL'S "FORTUITOUS BLESSINGS" AT RAPHAEL
Opens Saturday, February 10, 2007
"Fortuitous Blessings", an exhibit featuring the works of internationally renowned artist and former art professor Mario Parial, opens Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Galerie Raphael at The Piazza Mall, Serendra in Fort Bonifacio Global City.
This is Parial's 21st one-man show and will feature 25 works in acrylic on canvass and on paper. As a multiple awardee in many art competitions since his college years, he has participated in 40 local and international group exhibits and has joined the likes of National Artists Fernando Amorsolo, H.R. Ocampo, Ang Kiukok and Arturo Luz in auctions by Sotheby's in Singapore.
In painting, Parial developed a strong folk quality characterized by vivid, intense hues and design, often set in the colorful ambiance of carnivals and fiestas. His favored subjects today are the "Mother and Child" figures, vendors and mythical subjects and other well-loved filipino icons. His Marian works have been included in two international books on the subjects, along with works by Michael Angelo, El Greco, Da Vinci and Raphael.
The past years have been truly rewarding and indeed, Parial has more things to thank for.
