  Bravo, Sanso!
Show pays tribute to Sanso

Juvenal Sanso turns 77 this month, and as a tribute to the internationally renowned artist, Galerie Joaquin will open "Bravo, Sanso!" on Nov. 29, 7 p.m., at Galerie Joaquin Main.

Forty Paintings, including some rare works from the 70’s and 80’s, have been gathered for the exhibit.

A top European art critic has described Sanso works as "a walk through time and space" or a "magical journey of an artist who never ceased to discover and rediscover life’s pleasures."

"The cacophony of colors, the shade of exuberance, the changing patterns of life, they all come to life in Sanso’s magnificent collections."

Sanso has just received the Presidential Medal of Merit Award from the Republic of the Philippines.

He has been exhibited in international auction. Last Oct. 22, his "Blossoms of Summer" sold for over S$ 15,600, or almost P480,000 at Sotheby’s auction of Southeast Asian paintings.

Sanso, whose family moved to Manila from Catalunia, Spain, in 1933, studied at UP School of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Fernando Amorsolo, and later, at University of Santo Tomas with Antonio Garcia Llamas among his professors.

He later went to Europe to pursue further studies at the Academia di Bellas Arti in Rome and the L’Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Artes in Paris.
